Engaging Communities in PlanningHow do use our energy? Where do we put our waste? How do we act locally to avert global Climate change? What kind of relationship do we form with the land and each other? Most of all how we make this critical work?Because process determines outcomes, the question is which decision making process increases our chances of generating wise, just, balanced, equitable and sustainable outcomes?? The peace making/talking circle process Indigenous in origin, offers a way for all voices to be heard and for all interests to be respected. Circle open the positively for consensus decision making so that wisdom of diversity can move in to an out come that works for everyone.

The UK cosmetics industry is BIG business with £16.3 billion sales last year. Many products are sold by "brainwashing"; advertising "as seen on TV" on radio, television, magazines, newspapers and on the internet. Many claims are made on how products rejuvenating the skin, reduce wrinkles etc...do you know what the ingredients are in these products? Even if listed on the product label, do you understand what PABA, Mineral Oil, Petrolatum, Phthalates, Toluene and Benzene mean and how they may affect your skin and body...
Nick Lloyd, Managing Director of the Urbane Sustainable Building Company and founder of The Holistic Building Forum, will look at the health of buildings and how that affects the health of the occupants. In UK the government is committed to zero carbon homes. However, It is important that in the rush to insulate buildings, due care in given to allowing the building to 'breathe', as even small incidents of high relative humidity can cause considerable damage to structures and to human health. Nick will discuss how we can meet a holistic criteria of sustainability and breathablility.
